Brinks Prepaid Mastercard

Brinks Prepaid Mastercard

Brinks Prepaid Mastercard is an interesting card for one reason that may not be that obvious to others. Before it was widely known that Brinks offered a prepaid debit card, the company was known for something else…security. You may have seen the Brinks armored trucks in a variety of cities, especially in New York City. So you may find it interesting that no other prepaid card company is also a security company.

Brinks prepaid debit card competes with some of the more widely known cards like Green Dot, NetSpend and Walmart’s MoneyCard. All of these prepaid debit cards reward their users with cashback on qualifying purchases. Brinks card is backed by TSYS (Total System Services, Inc.) the same company that enables NetSpend to offer their services.

Brink's whole "schtick", or what makes them different, is the fact that they are a company that moves large amounts of money and and deals within the security industry. Because of this experience, Brinks can do the same for their consumers through their prepaid card. The bank associated with Brinks is the Republic Bank & Trust Company, which is a member of FDIC

Unfortunately, if you currently live in Vermont, you are not able to open an account with Brinks prepaid card.

Once you find the location and store you want to visit, just go straight to the cashier and tell them the amount you want to add on your card. Can I overdraft my Brinks account?

No, you cannot because Brinks Mastercard is a prepaid card and not a debit card which is connected to a bank account. Brink's Savings Account offer their cardholders a $10 cushion, which mean cardholders can purchase an item with their card even if they are $10 short.

Why Did I Get a Brink's Money Card in 2020?

If you received a Brink's money card sometime during the year 2020, do not be alarmed. Receiving the card is just a promotional method for Brink to gain more cardholders. This method of acquiring new cardholders is not new in the prepaid card industry. Green Dot and NetSpend also have sent prepaid cards to people who never applied for one. If you did not fill out any registration forms online for the card it is highly unlikely that any of your personal information is connected to the Brinks money card.

If you are not interested in becoming a member, just throw the card out. However, if you are interested, you will most likely have to fill out a form with your personal information and a personalized Brink's money card will be mailed to you within a week.

Brink's Money Card ATM Locations

As with all prepaid cards, you should aim to pay as little as possible when it comes to fees. You can withdraw cash from any ATM with your Brink's money card but you will likely be paying a fee of $2.50 from the ATM operator, on top of the $2.50 that Brinks charges you. It is in your best interests to use a surcharge-free ATM like All Point. Luckily for you, we included many All Point locations in our Reload Location tool, however you can also go straight to the All Point ATM official website.
